Only on weekends, you can visit Thailand’s most authentic floating market in Amphawa. This market is an easy escape and short distance from Bangkok for a great afternoon experience. Feel the rush at the Maeklong Railway Market as trains pass by while vendors move quickly to get their goods out of the way. Visit one of Thailand’s fascinating temples, Wat Bang Kung, surrounded by the roots of a banyan tree.
Our driver and guide pick you up at your Bangkok hotel and will drive you to Amphawa. Here, you’ll find yourself in Thailand’s most authentic floating market, where visitors can enjoy a cozy atmosphere and local music broadcast over loudspeakers, while the canal vendors commute by small wooden boats and cook and sell their food from there.
Take a stroll along the canals and experience the many stalls selling all kinds of food, spices, and clothes. Take a coffee break, eat a tasty snack, strike a bargain, and enjoy the charming local atmosphere before we go on our long tail boat to have a look at the cozy floating market from the water.
Another fun and unique experience is at the Maeklong Railway Market, held literally on the railway tracks, with a wide range of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and everything else for sale. Vendors have to move quickly to get their goods out of the way when the train comes, as the train actually drives straight through the market! It’s fun to watch the stall holders pack and unpack their stalls just seconds before and after the train passes through.
Amphawa also hides a very surprising temple, which you get to explore, known as Wat Bang Kung Temple, iconic for being entirely covered with roots from a banyan tree. We return to your hotel in Bangkok in the early evening hours.
