On this private tour, starting from your hotel in Bangkok, you visit the Thai–Burma Death Railway and Kwai River Bridge with your own private guide on this full-day tour from Bangkok. Learn about this important World War II site and see the River Kwai bridge.
Bridge over River Kwai & War Cemetery
From Bangkok to Kanchanaburi—a distance of approx. 80 miles (130 kilometers), you have one of the most historical sites in Thailand the Bridge over the River Kwai. The bridge was immortalized by the movie of the same name, and we will have plenty of time to have a look around and a walk on the bridge as well.
From the bridge we continue on to the Allied War Cemeteries, where the remains of 6,982 war prisoners (mostly British, Dutch and Australian) who lost their lives during the construction of the ‘Death Railway’ are laid to rest.
Long Tail Boat Tour & Lunch
This tour also includes a scenic long tail boat ride on the Kwai River, where you we have a great trip on the water, before we back on land to have a nice Thai lunch in a local restaurant.
Train Ride on Death Railway & Hell Fire Pass
A train ride is not to be missed, going on Death Railway through magnificent scenery, passing over the original wooden viaduct constructed by Allied POWs. At the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum, there is a story telling of why and how the railway was built and the hardships and suffering endured by so many, who were forced to work in extremely harsh conditions.
We return to your hotel in Bangkok in the late afternoon, after a tour full of great experiences. We guarantee you will get the most out of this tour with our knowledgeable, informative and friendly English speaking local guide.
